PVC edge banding is an extruded plastic strip used to cover and protect the exposed edges of plywood, MDF, particleboard, and other engineered wood panels. It is widely used in furniture, cabinetry, interior decoration, and door manufacturing.
Good edge banding tape should have stable thickness, clean edges, smooth surface quality, accurate color matching, and reliable adhesion with hot-melt glue. These results require both a stable formula and a well-designed production line.
Setting up a PVC edge banding factory requires careful planning of market demand, production capacity, raw materials, factory space, and extrusion equipment. A complete PVC edge banding production line can help manufacturers produce decorative edge banding tapes for furniture, cabinets, and interior decoration industries.
PVC edge banding manufacturing process is a continuous extrusion process that converts PVC resin and additives into decorative edge banding tape used for furniture panels, cabinets, and office furniture. The process includes raw material preparation, mixing, extrusion, cooling, surface treatment, and winding

In a one-step process, powder materials are fed directly into the extruder. The investment is lower, but color stability, surface finish, and dimensional accuracy are harder to control.
In a two-step process, raw materials are first compounded and granulated, then extruded into finished tape. This improves pigment dispersion, color consistency, surface smoothness, and product stability. For manufacturers targeting mid-range and premium furniture markets, the two-step process is usually the better long-term choice.
The factory is divided into five major areas: raw mateail storage area, mixing area, extrusion area, surface treatment area, and final products package area. The size of each area is determined based on production capacity and level of automation.
Use a gradient screw (barrier-free, no mixing head), with equal depth but unequal pitch, and a long compression section to avoid overheating and decomposition. The standard length-to-diameter ratio (L/D) is 18:1 to 22:1 (optimal 20:1).
Suggest temperature in barrel: 160–175℃ (lower temperature in the feeding section, higher temperature in the homogenization section)
Die: 170–180℃
Melt Temperature: ≤185℃ (exceeding this temperature will cause yellowing and decomposition)
Use ultrafine color powder of 1200 mesh or higher, wood grain-specific color paste/pre-dispersed masterbatch, and minimize direct addition of dry powder. Excessive calcium carbonate filler or too much heavy calcium carbonate encroaches on the colorant space, leading to uneven color absorption and a grayish or mottled appearance.
Solutions: Reduce filler content; address plasticizer and stabilizer compatibility issues. Uneven DOP addition and poor compatibility of calcium-zinc stabilizers result in inconsistent melt flowability, causing color variations. Maintain a fixed formula ratio and preheat and mix the plasticizer beforehand.
A good supplier should provide more than equipment. They should understand PVC formulas, extrusion process control, installation, training, and after-sales service.

Yes, manufacturers can customize width, thickness, color and surface patterns.
solid color, wood grain, high gloss, matte, embossed.
Store in a dry & cool place, avoid direct sunlight & high temperature, prevent aging, discoloration & deformation.
Investment depends on production capacity, automation level, and product requirements
